Quakersong.org is the music website of Annie Patterson & Peter Blood and Rise Up Singing. We are dedicated to promoting group singing, folk music and all forms of grassroots "people's music" that empowers families, communities, and social movements that are working to make this planet a more livable place for all.
Many of you have told us what a difference Rise Up Singing has made for you and the wider folk community. We hope you will consider buying copies of Rise Up Singing and the RUS "teaching discs" directly from us on this site. (You can also receive bulk discounts here not available through most outlets.)
The site also includes:
--Information on Annie's recordings, including her brand new release, Mountain Side. --Biographical information about Pete Seeger's life & work and a place to purchase a broad selection of Pete Seeger's best recordings (more than are available for purchase than in any other single
location!) - as well as the new expanded edition of Pete's autobiography, Where Have All the Flowers Gone that Peter (Blood) edited. --A geographical listing of regular singalongs
and song circles around North America (most of which use Rise Up
Singing at least in part). If you know of more such regular sings,
please send us information and we'll include these. --A popular directory of Quaker musicians organized by name & region --Links
to other websites promoting the kind of music we are committed to and
sites of some of the musicians that we feel are doing the most
to promote the same musical culture and world changes that Rise Up
Singing represents.
In the future we plan for the site to serve as a multifaceted resource for people seeking to create their own music, singing together with others, promoting a people's music culture, and utilizing music to address the huge challenges facing our world today. Watch for the following that are coming soon:
--More history of the "roots" of Rise Up Singing and how it came into being.
--Ideas on how to hold a successful singalong or start a regular singalong in your area. --More promo info on Annie's folk performing work & the singalong concerts & workshops we lead using the book
--More information on the sequel to Rise Up Singing that we are working on.
Please contact us if you have any questions about our work or ideas for improving this site as a vehicle for the values it is built on.
