Young Friends of North America (YFNA)

We are helping to plan 2 exciting gatherings that are taking place back to back in Barnesville, Ohio, this coming June. Young Friends of North America was a fellowship of Young Adult Quakers aged 18-35 that existed between around 1955 and 1995 and which spanned the different branches of Friends. World Gathering of Young Friends in 1985 and 2005 continued this kind of powerful religious experience. These groups provided spiritual nurture for a generation of Quaker leaders. The Barnesville gathering will be both a reunion of people who were themselves (or who had loved ones who were) touched by YFNA & WGYF. It will also be an opportunity for Young Friends today to meet together to envision and build a similar movement today. Anyone is welcome regardless of age or degree of involvement in past, present or future Young Friends activities!

This Reunion/Envisioning Weekend will be followed by an intergenerational and cross-branch "Quaker Camp" with lots of unprogrammed opportunities share and pray together on ways to deepen our lives in God. For a more detailed description of these 2 gatherings, click Quaker Camp info

promoting efforts to secure a Nobel Peace Prize for legendary folk singer & environmental & peace activist, Pete Seeger. A new edition of Seeger's autobiography (which Peter edited) is coming out this spring.

There are some great quotes from Pete on the power of group singing in the recent New York Times article on community sings around the country, many of which use Rise Up Singing.
